Tottenham Hotspur will be desperate to get points on board when they head to Chelsea in their Premier League meeting on Thursday night.

Champions League-chasing Spurs are in poor form at present, having picked up just seven points from their last six games and losing their last two.

Luckily for Tottenham, they still have two games in hand on fourth-placed Aston Villa, who dropped two points against Chelsea at the weekend.

Thursday’s game will also see Mauricio Pochettino renew acquaintances with his former club once again.

The Chelsea boss managed Tottenham between 2014 and 2019, turning them into Premier League title contenders and Champions League finalists.

Now, he’ll be looking to deprive Spurs of points in order to help the Blues finish a dismal season on as high a note as possible.

Despite his time at Tottenham not ending in the best possible way, Pochettino still feels strongly about his former club.

Pochettino, speaking to football.london on Wednesday, gave his thoughts on how Spurs are doing under Ange Postecoglou.

What has Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino said about Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou?

He said: “I think he has recovered for the fans and the club the hope, you know?

“They are playing very good football. It is always difficult when you arrive to a new country, the challenge is massive.

“But he is doing a fantastic job and every time you watch Tottenham you enjoy how they play.”

Pochettino also said in the press conference: “Tottenham was amazing also because the challenge was to create a team that can compete and challenge the big sides.

“After one year and a half, we were challenging. For five and nearly six years, we were challenging all of the big teams.

“We were in the final of the Champions League, building a new stadium, a new training ground. To be part of this journey was an amazing time.”

Bittersweet occasion as Tottenham head to Mauricio Pochettino’s new club

For quite a while, quite a few Spurs fans were hoping Pochettino could return to N17 and lead them back to the levels they were at in his first spell.

However, that dream came to an end when he joined their London rivals just under a year ago.

There may well be some schadenfreude for Tottenham fans as Chelsea aren’t exactly pulling up any trees at the minute, but at the same time, the memories of his time at Spurs won’t easily be forgotten.
