Leeds United are set to miss out on a transfer target who has been ripping it up in front of goal this season.

Leeds are all but resigned to the play-offs after suffering a brutal 4-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers last week.

Ipswich took advantage of their slip-up by beating Coventry City 2-1 on Tuesday evening to move three points clear of Daniel Farke’s men with one game to play.

The Tractor Boys now only need a point on the final day against relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town to confirm their place in the Premier League next season.

With that said, Leeds also look set to miss out on a prolific transfer target ahead of the fast-approaching summer window.

Leeds United set to miss out on Michy Batshuayi

Leeds and Fulham were both targeting Fenerbahce’s ‘incredible’ striker Michy Batshuayi ahead of the summer window.

The former Chelsea man has been in fine form with the Turkish side this term, netting 23 goals across 40 appearances.

Aged 30, it appears he’s arrived at his peak and would be a fantastic addition to the aforementioned pair.

But a return to England is now unlikely, as Fenerbahce have decided to active a clause in his contract which will see his deal – which was due to expire in June – extended, according to Fotomac.

Batshuayi is said to be happy at the Super Lig club and therefore won’t be joining Farke’s squad this summer.

Leeds United will have to look elsewhere

Indeed, a lot of Leeds’ transfer business will be heavily dependent on what division they end up in and a return to the top-flight is by no means a guarantee.

With a play-off campaign looming, any forthcoming negotiations for targets will have to be put on hold until their destiny is revealed.

Though, they can begin the process of identifying alternatives to Batshuayi, who likely would’ve come in as the main man, replacing Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe, both of whom have been hit and miss this term.

Perhaps Cameron Archer could be a player of interest this summer, with Sheffield United relegated from the Premier League.

Leeds were rumoured to be in for Archer prior to his Blades move, so that may be a deal to keep an eye on.
