Newcastle United look set to land a new defensive addition heading into the summer.

The Magpies are in desperate need of more cover at centre-back, and now, they look to have found a solution, and to make things even better it's going to be a free transfer.

According to Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon, Tosin Adarabioyo is set to sign for Newcastle this summer.

The centre-back had been of interest to both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, but Newcastle have seemingly won this race by offering the defender wages of around £6m-a-year.

Tosin has been shining for Fulham for a number of years after signing from Manchester City back in 2020, but with his contract up in the summer a move to St James' Park beckons.

Tosin could be brilliant for Newcastle

Tosin could be just what the doctor ordered at Newcastle.

With the right coaching, the Fulham defender could become an absolute superstar.

In terms of raw attributes, Tosin has it all, he stands at 6 ft 5, he's as strong as an ox and he's absolutely rapid.

Described as a 'special' player in the past and schooled by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Tosin is also ambitious with the ball, if a bit erratic at times, but if Eddie Howe can coach a bit more discipline into the centre-back, he'll have a gem on his hands.

With no transfer fee attached, this one is an absolute no-brainer, and it's a real coup for the Magpies, especially as Profit and Sustainability issues continue to play a part in the Magpies' summer transfer plans.

Landing a player like Tosin on a free is smart business to say the least, and it may well allow Newcastle to allocate more funds to other positions this summer as Howe's side look to, once again, push for Champions League qualification in 2024/25.

This could already be one of the signings of the summer.
